i so can't wait to have a bookcase

oh poor snow white

When I get a bookcase, I think I will arrange my books by the color of their spine. For an example, check out this post by superhero. I think it is interesting that yellow spines seem to be for the likes of the “Dummies” series as well as Cliff Notes (which reportedly can only be purchased on line now). Blue seems to be the most popular. As I recall blue is just a universally liked color. It is calming and reminiscent of water.

I am so tired of all these boxes. They have been sitting for far too long in my Pottery Barn lemon yellow living room. Some are unpacked and empty but I simply got tired of breaking them down. What is wrong with me?

The winter quarter officially starts tomorrow for B. Classes started on Monday but this quarter he only has class Wednesday thru Friday, all from 1:30 to 4:30. It also looks like “winter” is about to hit Chicagoland. The weather reports are predicting as much as six inches of snow.

I ordered a new coat. It’s a black wool pea coat. It is sure to keep me warmer than my red “one step above felt” coat. Unfortunately it hasn’t arrived yet. We thought it was here yesterday when we got a call from the front desk. It’s odd because something else I ordered afterward from the same company arrived a few days ago. Hopefully soon. I think it will be a while before we start seeing days above 0°C again. I need to break down at some point and get boots. It’s hard when the shoe catalogues are arriving with pretty t-straps for spring. I have never been practical when it comes to attire. I blame all my years in Catholic school plaid.

In other news I am happy to report that we now have a stainless steel prep table in our kitchen. Somehow I got it in my head that it would come assembled. Ha! The kicker was that the wheels didn’t have instructions and so we had to wait five days for customer service to get back to us. Really we probably could have figured it out without the little advice they gave us. Trial and error method though with a hundred pound table just didn’t seem the way to go. In the end, brainpower surpassed manpower as I realized a little bit of canola oil might help the shelf move to the proper position. There is still a lot of work to be done in the kitchen, but this certainly does improve things. I finally have a workspace. Of course there is still no place to sit.

The couch should be arriving any day. I am actually surprised they haven’t called us. Of course, I need to clear a path so they can actually deliver it. If this doesn’t provide motivation I don’t know what will (please don’t let it be a call from B’s Mom saying they are coming to visit).

Of course we still need a dining room table and chairs. I have found a table I like, but chairs are a bigger issue. And of course a bookcase would be nice. I really am going to arrange my books by color. If nothing else it will give people something to talk about.
