spring preview

Sunday was absolutely gorgeous. I am sure parts of Chicago reached 60F and above! Spring doesn’t officially arrive for a couple of weeks, but this shift in the tides gave me hope that winter might actually end. Yay!

We have been in Chicago for a little over six months now and things seem right on schedule. When we go out, we no longer get lost (at least not every time). Things are starting to feel familiar. Not quite home, but familiar.

The warm weather encouraged us to get out and explore the city. We hopped on the Brown Line and got off in the heart of Sheffield/Lincoln Park. We had been over that way the week before when we met up with some people from the Business Week Boards at a bar. We decided to go back to check out Argo Tea and the little shops in the area. We were not disappointed.

Argo Tea has free WIFI so we lugged the laptops with us. We also learned that sometime soon they will be opening a location just down the block from us. Then of course I will have to decide between Moonstruck and Argo Tea – I know, hard to feel sorry for me.

We had lunch at this little chicken place. Of course somehow neither of us ended up ordering chicken. I tried the pork chop sandwich and B had the shrimp pasta. Both were made to order and quite tasty. The guy behind the counter looked a little like my great-uncle John. Next time I'd like to try the chicken.

We also went and took a look around Art Effect. It is one of those stores that sells things no one really NEEDS, but you are glad someone thought to create nonetheless. I was most tempted by a gnome statue. He was playing an accordion and would look pretty cute sitting on our windowsill overlooking Millennium Park. In the end though, I exited the store with just a business card. I’ll be back, I’m sure.

We also found another Paper Source. I have only been to their store in Beverly Hills. It is one of those stores where if you like paper and cards as much as I do, you could spend a small fortune. Alas, they were closing by the time we got there, so again, all I came out with were ideas for future projects and a business card.

The bottom line is that I am starting to feel more comfortable here. We have found replacements for some of those places I miss back in California. Of course, the internship is looming in the background, capable of taking us just about anywhere in the US*.

That picture is absolutely breath-taking. I have copied it and have it on my desktop.... {Hope you don't mind}. Glad you are enjoying the Windy-City!
